A garage door repair starts with finding which part is really failing, because one worn part usually hides or causes another. Our crew works out of 15th Avenue North in Jacksonville Beach, and we repair the whole door for the Beaches, from the springs over the opening to the bottom seal on the slab, plus the cables, drums, hinges, rollers, tracks and sections in between, and the opener that drives them.
The door is one machine, so we test it as one. A door that grinds on the way up may have a dry roller bearing and a perfectly healthy opener. A door that reverses at the floor may have a misaligned photo-eye, not a bad logic board. We disconnect the opener, lift the door by hand to judge its balance, name the cause, quote one exact price on site and fix it with parts carried on the truck. When the part is on the truck, the door that would not move this morning is usually working again before we leave.

Why Salt Air Wears Doors Down
The Beaches sit on a barrier island, and the metal in a garage door pays for it. NOAA's 1991-2020 normals for the Jacksonville Beach station show 52.44 inches of rain a year, about half of it from June through September, and the average overnight low stays at 75°F or higher in those four months. Sea-spray chlorides speed up the corrosion of zinc coatings, so plated hinges, brackets and cable fittings rust first. The door industry's trade group says doors near a saline coast should stay closed where possible, which is why we inspect the bottom brackets and hinges on every repair, not only the part that failed.
