Garage Door Opener Repair
We separate a door problem from an opener problem first, then repair the drive, logic board, sensors or remotes that actually failed.
An opener that will not respond is often not the opener. A humming motor can be pushing against a broken spring, a door that reverses at the floor may have a photo-eye knocked out of line, and a dead remote can be a dead battery. We start by disconnecting the door from the opener and lifting it by hand: a balanced door moves easily and stays where you leave it, and that tells us whether the fault sits in the opener or in the door.
If it is the opener, we work through the power supply, wall control, logic board, travel limits, force settings, drive and safety sensors. We repair chain, belt and direct-drive units, replace remotes and keypads, and tell you plainly when a replacement is the better purchase than another repair.
Opener Faults We Trace

Humidity, Storms and Opener Electronics
Openers on the Beaches live through the wet season, when June through September brings about half of the 52.44 inches of rain NOAA records at Jacksonville Beach, along with thunderstorms and summer outages. A voltage surge can damage a logic board or receiver without leaving a mark, and moisture reaches the photo-eyes that sit only inches off the floor, where splash collects. We trace surge damage to the board, clean and realign corroded eyes, and point out the red release cord so a power cut does not trap the car.
How We Handle It
Isolate the door
The opener is disconnected and the door is lifted by hand, so a balance problem is not blamed on the motor.
Test the opener
Power, wall control, remotes, logic board, travel limits, force and the drive are tested one by one.
Repair or replace
Parts are swapped on site when the unit is worth saving, and a replacement is recommended when it is not.
Safety check
Photo-eyes are mounted no higher than 6 inches off the floor and tested, and the door must reverse off a flat 2x4 in its path.
